Shenandoah Creatures

In the Shenandoah National Park, I see many creatures. Some I see on a more frequent basis than expected. Park visitors and their pets are seen every day. But this is not a post about them, this post is about those creatures that call Shenandoah home. Most of the pictures below are from our campground (Mathews Arm) and the trail nearby. The bear video was taken by my wife while we were working. We were waiting for a thru-hiker to come up to us with a question. The mother bear is young and this is her first litter. We see this bear family at least once a week.

White Tail deer frequently wander by the RV and cause Aria to bark. They usually just stare at her.

The owl pictures are Barred Owls. Other birds that visit us are Red Starts, Cat Birds (which actually sound like a cat), Phoebes and Robins. Couldn’t tell you the names of the salamander, butterflies/moths and the spider….

I find the animals have a calming effect on me. Well the spider doesn’t, but the rest do.

Enjoy, and let me know if you have any questions.
